We did it!

With the support of Highland Park Forward and an engaged and energized community, Jon Center has been elected to the Highland Park City Council. Congratulations to Jon for running an inspiring, issues-focused campaign—and we thank all of you for staying informed, getting involved, and showing up for your city. We also congratulate the other winners in the many races held yesterday, especially Annette Lidawer and Andrés Tapia, who worked tirelessly on behalf of HP Forward and Jon.

This election was about more than just a single seat—it was about a vision for Highland Park’s future. From Jeff Hoobler’s initial campaign, to the overwhelming success of the liquor license referendum, and now Jon’s clear victory, the message from voters has been consistent and powerful: Highland Park is ready for a new direction – led by leaders committed to transparency, citizen engagement, and fresh ideas.

While some tried to make this race personal, the candidates ran because they care about our city and felt their vision best matched what the community needs. We appreciate each candidate’s willingness to serve and thank them for stepping up. It’s never easy to put your name on the ballot, and Highland Park is stronger for having people willing to engage in the process.

At HP Forward, we remain committed to being a positive force—one that encourages thoughtful participation in local government, particularly among younger residents, and those who have felt disconnected from city decision-making. We’ll continue our work to educate, engage, and empower the Highland Park community through honest dialogue, civic advocacy, and support for meaningful reform.

We invite you to stay involved with HP Forward and with the community. Whether it’s through community forums, helping shape our local priorities, or simply being a voice for progress, HP Forward belongs to all of us.
